What is Open Source?

Open Source is basically a terminology that refers to computer programs or softwares that include permission to use the source code, design documents or use content of the software.

In a simpler sentence, Open Source is a software with source code, that anyone can inspect or examine, modify and improve.

Joomla is an Open Source software, that means; its source code is available, with permission to use, study, modify, improve and redistribute.

On one hand, objectors of Open Source Development Model, see that Open Source softwares are more vulnerable to hacking attacks, as the source code is available, and anyone can study, discover vulnerability and hack.

However, on the other hand, advocates of Open Source Development Model, see that Open Source softwares allow developers improve the software, easily & quickly find & fix security vulnerabilities and bugs in the software.

Open Source softwares have no warranty. In the case that there’s a damage, no one is absolutely responsible.
